Author : Adir Le

While there are methods of marketing alternative to brochures available, you will find that over a period of time brochures have proven to be the most effective Brochures can be used for a variety of purposes and these purposes define their design and content Let’s explore the different types of brochures there can be and the purposes that they can serve

The “leave behind” brochure

As the name suggests, the “leave behind” brochure is not meant as an introductory to your services or your product Your sales team uses this type of brochure once they have met with the prospective customer and explained the details of what your business can offer The job of a “leave behind” brochure is to reiterate and reinforce all that the salesperson has said and therefore the contents need to be more specific and detailed The brochure should serve as a refresher until the person opts for the product or service A great example of this would be printing a brochure for a fundraiser This kind of brochure would outline the cause and everything associated with it and would act as a reminder of everything that you have already explained to the prospective donor

Sales-oriented brochures

Sales-oriented brochures have a single purpose in mind The prospective client / customer should have their curiosity piqued by it so that they pick it up, read it and even keep it These are the kind of brochures that you might encounter while standing in line at the department store or the bank An excellent example would be travel brochures

Responses to inquiries

While brochures are meant to encourage inquiry, they can also be used as a response to an inquiry These kinds of brochures differ a bit from the general information brochures as the customer / client in question have already expressed an interest in your service or product These will therefore be more specific to the buying process It should also contain details about the product or service that the inquiry has been made after An example of this kind of brochure is a real estate brochure

Direct mail brochures

The concept of this kind of brochure is fairly simple to understand These are inexpensive brochures that you will find as a part of your mail These brochures could include anything from a brief about the product to detail specifications about products

Brochures as selling tools

These brochures are fairly similar the “leave behind” variety, the only difference being that they are used as a sales tool as well These are generally produced with high quality brochure printing with larger pictures and visuals to aid the selling process

Types of brochure printing

Full color brochure printing can really be done only in 2 ways: by means of digital printing and by means of offset printing Digital printing can be done when the quantity of the brochures is relatively small However if you are looking at a large number then you might want to consider offset printing Your printer would be the best person to advice you in this area However if you are not sure about the design or you think that you might print a lot of different types of brochures in small quantities it might be a wise idea to invest in a couple of computer printers that print brochures
